The Camp

The Global Holiday Camp was developed by volunteers and will be implemented for the sixth time this year. This year’s topic will be GHC- Macht Zukunft

In general, the Camp aims at sensitizing the participants for European and global topics, such as sustainability, empowerment and diversity, by creating space for experiences close to life. We will also try to include aspects of Salesian pedagogy, human right animation and the concept of the oratory. To do so, we try to combine a lot of action, sports and creativity with theoretical input and therefore enthuse the participants to think out of the box.

As in the past several years, there are going to be two camps of five days, one located in Regensburg and another one located in Benediktbeuern (about 2 hours apart).

You will be working with the team of animators in both camps. In each camp around 30 kids from 10 to 14 years will be participating. The program will take place from 9 am to 7 pm and will include a sleepover on the last night (if possible).

The Team

We are a mixed group of former Don Bosco volunteers, mostly in our twenties, with national and international youth work experience. We come from all over Germany and are looking forward to spending an awesome time with the team, the kids and hopefully you.

What we expect

You should be motivated and openminded to be a part of our team. Your tasks during the preparation and the camp include organizing, supporting the program, contributing your ideas and animating the children and teenagers.

To participate good German or English skills are essential. The program will mostly be held in German, but we will facilitate the language barrier. The preparation and evaluation can optionally take place in English. In addition, it would be desirable for you to have experience in youth work and animation in the Don Bosco context.

About CoVid19

Although we also have not been spared from the pandemic, we could manage to successfully conduct both camps in 2020, 2021 and 2022. With some additional rules like wearing face masks, watching out for hygiene and distance adherence during the sessions it was possible for us to enable a much-needed time of distraction and community for the participants. Nobody knows what to expect in 2023, but by regarding some safety rules and the current pandemic situation, we will try our best and are optimistic to make the camps possible again.
